Breaking: Trump’s Bold Initiative for Peace Talks in Saudi Arabia Aims to Resolve Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Senior U.S. officials from President Donald Trump’s administration are set to engage in peace negotiations with Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia. According to U.S. Representative Michael McCaul and a source familiar with the plans, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and White House Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff will attend the talks. McCaul, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to participate in the discussions aiming to arrange a meeting between Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Zelenskyy to end the ongoing conflict.
Despite an intention to negotiate peace, Zelenskyy asserted on Saturday that Ukraine will oppose any peace deals made without its involvement. Ukraine has emphasized the importance of collaborating with the U.S. and Europe to formulate a unified strategy before any direct engagements between Trump and Putin take place.
Concurrently, negotiations regarding a critical minerals agreement continue. Zelenskyy expressed that the current draft from Washington lacks the essential security provisions desired by Kyiv. Sources revealed that the U.S. has proposed obtaining a 50% stake in Ukraine’s critical minerals.
Trump reassured reporters at the White House on Thursday that Ukraine would be included in any peace discussions concerning the resolution of the war with Russia. These developments underscore the complex dynamics at play as efforts to mediate a peaceful resolution to the conflict proceed.
