Unlocking a Brighter Future: How AI Revolutionizes Health, Education, and Agriculture – PM Modi’s Inspiring Vision
At the AI Action Summit in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the transformative power of artificial intelligence, describing it as a pivotal force shaping the 21st century. Co-chairing the summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi called for a global, responsible, and inclusive governance approach, arguing that AI vastly differs from past technological advancements.
Highlighting AI’s immense potential to revolutionize sectors like healthcare, education, and agriculture, Modi emphasized its crucial role in accelerating progress towards Sustainable Development Goals. He advocated for democratizing technology, developing people-focused applications, and ensuring AI benefits, particularly in the Global South.
Modi showcased India’s leadership in AI adoption through initiatives like the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which has modernized governance and impacted 1.4 billion lives at minimal cost. He noted India’s Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture, instrumental in democratizing digital commerce and forming the bedrock of India’s National AI Mission.
Reaffirming India’s dedication to AI for public good, Modi highlighted the nation’s vast AI talent pool and its efforts to create a large language model catering to India’s diverse linguistic and cultural landscape. He also stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in AI infrastructure to provide affordable access to resources for startups and researchers.
On sustainability, Modi connected AI’s energy demands to the necessity for green and efficient AI models, akin to the success of the International Solar Alliance between India and France. He stressed the need to optimize resource use while fostering innovation in AI development.
Concluding his address, Modi emphasized that the key to AI’s future lies with humans, not machines. He urged global leaders to responsibly shape AI’s development, ensuring it serves the collective good and aligns technological advancement with ethical and social well-being.
