West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 8th Global Bengal Business Summit at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, Kolkata, spotlighting the state’s vast potential and inviting investments through newly established industry-friendly policies. During the event, Banerjee unveiled the formation of a State Level Industrial Coordination Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary, aimed at addressing investment-related issues efficiently. Signaling progress in the state’s industrial landscape, she announced the imminent commencement of basalt mining at the Deucha Pachami mine project, marking a significant stride in regional development. The summit witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Bhutanese Minister Yoson Phoonso, along with over 200 delegates from 40 countries, strengthening international ties. Additionally, the attendance of 25 ambassadors and High Commission members underscored the global interest in Bengal’s economic landscape.
Key industrial figures such as Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group, Sanjiv Goenka, and FICCI President Harshvardhan Agarwal also participated, pledging new investments which promise to propel the state’s economy forward. The summit set the stage for discussions centered around advancing West Bengal’s industrial framework, fostering a conducive environment for business, and leveraging the state’s strategic location and resources to attract significant investments.
