Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where he took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. During this spiritual experience, Modi held ‘rudraksha’ beads, chanted mantras, and offered prayers while standing in the river. He expressed his gratitude on social media, noting the peace and fulfillment he derived from the blessings of the Ganges and praying for the well-being of all Indians. “Har-Har Gange!” he posted.
Modi traveled to the site accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and together they journeyed by boat to the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. The ongoing Mahakumbh, which began on January 13 with Paush Purnima, will conclude on February 26 with Mahashivratri, showcasing the world’s largest spiritual gathering that draws millions of devotees. The event, held every 12 years, has so far attracted over 38 crore pilgrims from India and beyond.
During his December 13 visit to Prayagraj, the Prime Minister inaugurated 167 development projects totaling ₹5,500 crore, aimed at enhancing connectivity, amenities, and public services. Prime Minister Modi shared highlights of his experience at the Kumbh on social media.
In related developments, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk visited Prayagraj, participating in several spiritual activities. The King, along with CM Adityanath, offered prayers at the Lete Hanuman Mandir and explored the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre, which presents a blend of spirituality and modernity.
Highlighting the prestigious gathering’s international appeal, the Uttar Pradesh government is showcasing the Mahakumbh through cutting-edge digital experiences, preparing for the next grand event slated for 2025. The ongoing session has solidified Prayagraj’s status as a vibrant hub of spiritual and cultural confluence.
