Empowering Change: ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Rally Ignites Passion and Awareness in Seijosa, Arunachal
The Women and Child Development (WCD) Department of Pakke Kessang District recently organized a Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) awareness rally in Seijosa under the Mission Shakti scheme, emphasizing the protection, safety, and empowerment of women and children. This initiative is part of a comprehensive awareness campaign led by the One Stop Centre (OSC) and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) teams of the WCD Department.
By aligning with the Arunachal Pradesh Rescue & Rehabilitation Policy for Children in Street Situation (APRRoCiSS) 2022, along with Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya, the initiative seeks to bolster legal measures against rights violations while focusing on women’s and children’s welfare. The awareness drive featured public announcements, interactive stakeholder sessions, and checks on suspected child labor sites, culminating in a significant two-day event in Seijosa to underscore the importance of safeguarding rights.
The initiative was officially launched by Bani Lego, Deputy Commissioner of Pakke Kessang, at the Golden Jubilee Ground, attended by members of the District Task Force on BBBP and RRoCiSS, local PRI leaders, Gaon Burahs, and other critical stakeholders. Mission Shakti, a Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India project, features two sub-schemes: Sambal, which focuses on women’s safety and protection, and Samarthya, which concentrates on women’s economic and social empowerment.
By spearheading these initiatives, the Pakke Kessang District administration and WCD Department demonstrate their commitment to fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for women and children, reinforcing the broader goal of attaining gender equality and social justice.
