Transformative Initiative: Siang Trust Brings Vital Healthcare to Remote Namsing Village in Arunachal
Namsing village in Mebo Subdivision, East Siang district, was the site of a pivotal healthcare initiative today, February 2, 2025, as Siang Trust NGO hosted a comprehensive free health camp. The event brought together an esteemed team of medical professionals, featuring Ophthalmologist Dr. Beauty Borang Perme, Senior Surgeon Dr. Kaling Megu, Dental Surgeons Dr. Mini Ering and Dr. Miti Burang, along with Retired Additional Director (DHS) Dr. Saibal Bhattacharjee and Retired Joint Director (DHS) Dr. Runi Tasung. Their efforts were bolstered by SMO In-charge Dr. Lung Perme, staff from PHC Namsing, and Siang Trust President, Group Captain Mohonto Panging Pao, VM (Retd.), among other key support staff.
The success of the camp was also attributed to the support of local community leaders, such as the GBs, the Village Secretary, and elders of Namsing village, who were instrumental in its facilitation. The outreach provided essential medical services to 246 patients from the villages of Namsing, Kongkul, Seram, Gadum, Mer, and Sogan. Attendees benefited from complimentary services including blood pressure and sugar tests, ECG screenings, and the distribution of necessary medications. Furthermore, 150 individuals were given eye care, while 45 patients received dental treatments.
Siang Trust aims to expand this initiative by organizing similar health camps in other remote villages, striving to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved populations. This move reflects a commitment to improving public health in the region, ensuring essential medical care reaches even the most isolated communities.
