Shocking Crackdown: Tripura BSF’s Bold Operations Lead to Rs 2.5 Crore Narcotics Seizure and Capture of 14 Bangladeshis
The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has heightened its vigilance and strengthened control along the India-Bangladesh border, successfully preventing numerous infiltration, exfiltration, and smuggling attempts since January 26. During this period, BSF personnel apprehended 14 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian facilitators in various operations carried out independently and alongside other agencies.
In addition to these arrests, the BSF seized contraband items, including narcotics, sugar, and cattle, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 crore. These efforts underscore the BSF’s commitment to combating illegal activities along the border.
The BSF emphasized its collaborative efforts with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), conducting around 80 coordinated patrols and organizing multiple border coordination meetings to enhance security measures. To address local community concerns, BSF battalions have also conducted over 40 village coordination meetings in border regions.
In a joint venture with allied agencies, BSF troops have undertaken a substantial effort to eliminate illegal drug cultivation. They destroyed over one lakh mature cannabis plants across 60 acres in remote areas, reflecting their dedication to promoting a ‘drug-free society’ initiative.
These diligent efforts by the BSF reflect their commitment to ensuring a high level of security and addressing trans-border challenges efficiently, contributing significantly to regional peace and security.
