Captivating & Emotional Review of ‘MUKKAM POST DEVACH GHAR’: A Must-Watch Marathi Drama
Saahil Motion Arts, Keemaya Productions, and Swaroop Studios present the Marathi film “Mukkam Post Devach Ghar,” which weaves the touching tale of Jija, a young girl portrayed by Myra Vaikul. Heartbroken by her father’s passing, Jija takes to writing letters to him, as instructed by her mother, who tells her that he has departed to be with God. At first, these heartfelt messages go unanswered, but one day Jija receives a reply, spurring her to regularly communicate with her father. Each letter she pens addresses a challenge faced by her or her friends. Mysteriously, solutions soon follow each written plea, captivating Jija’s imagination. But who is behind these miraculous responses?
The storyline, crafted by Sanket Mane, is criticized for its lack of innovation. The screenplay, co-written by Mane and Sumit Giri, attempts to blend humor and sentiment but struggles to deliver a fully engaging experience due to its predictable nature and repetitive elements. The dialogues penned by Giri are serviceable but not particularly memorable.
In terms of performances, Myra Vaikul shines as Jija, delivering a commendable portrayal. Spruha Parab adds charm as Jija’s friend, Shubhi, while Kalyani Mulye offers a competent performance as Jija’s mother. The supporting cast, including Savita Malpekar, Mangesh Desai, and Sachin Narkar, deliver adequate performances. Sanket Mane’s direction is passable, with Chinar-Mahesh’s music and Mangesh Kangane’s lyrics failing to leave a lasting impression. The technical aspects such as Rohan Madkaikar’s cinematography, Satish Chipkar’s art direction, and the editing by Dinesh Pujari and Nainesh Dingankar provide functional support but leave room for improvement.
Overall, “Mukkam Post Devach Ghar,” which premiered on January 31, 2025, faces an uphill battle at the box office due to minimal promotion and limited appeal, making it unlikely to leave a significant mark on audiences.
