In swimming, stellar performances captivated audiences. Bhavya Sachdeva from Delhi clinched the gold in the women’s 800-meter freestyle, while Karnataka’s Shoan Ganguly dominated the men’s 400-meter medley. Gold medals were also bagged by Soubrity Mondal from Bengal in the women’s 200-meter backstroke, and Rishabh Das from Maharashtra in the men’s same category. The 50-meter freestyle saw triumphs from Karnataka’s Dhinidhi Desingu and Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre in the women’s and men’s events, respectively.
Rugby sevens finals in Dehradun were equally thrilling. Haryana’s men’s team secured their fourth consecutive gold by defeating Maharashtra 22-7. Odisha’s women team marked their dominance by besting Bihar 29-5. In the bronze clash, Odisha overcame West Bengal 26-10, while Maharashtra edged out Delhi 17-10 in the women’s category.
The cycling event delivered an adrenaline-pumping road race as Gujarat’s Muskaan Gupta seized gold in the 60-kilometer race. Closely followed by Maharashtra’s Pooja Baban Danol, who took silver, missing gold by a mere 0.078 seconds. Odisha’s Swati Singh claimed bronze, leaving spectators enthralled by the narrow time margins that separated the top three competitors.
Weightlifting saw an extraordinary feat as Bindyarani Devi from Manipur broke new ground by setting a national record in the 55 kg category, lifting 88 kilograms in the snatch. Parth Rakesh Mane of Maharashtra shone in shooting by claiming a gold medal with Rudranks Patel taking silver.
Uttarakhand showcased its prowess in Wushu, garnering one gold and five bronze medals. Additionally, the yoga competition made its national debut in Almora, adding a unique cultural dimension to the games.
