She opened up about her morning mantra in a conversation with actor Rubina Dilaik on her YouTube podcast. Despite her bedtime, Dr. Chopra is up by 5:30 am, cherishing the quiet hours as personal sanctuary time. “Starting the day early gives you so many hours for yourself,” she shared, while emphasizing the importance of avoiding laziness and ensuring good sleep.

Her mornings usually begin with breathing exercises and meditation. Dr. Chopra described her routine of pranayama and a brief warm-up lasting 30-40 minutes, followed by two hours dedicated to self-love—reading, planning, and preparing for the day before heading to work. She noted that while this regimen suits her, it may not work for everyone, stating, “If your body needs more sleep, listen to it.”

Dr. Deepti Sinha from CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, concurs with this approach, highlighting the benefits of mindfulness in managing stress and enhancing focus. She recommends incorporating mindful breathing exercises like alternate nostril and belly breathing soon after waking up. These exercises not only help in balancing the nervous system but also strengthen lung capacity, stabilize heart rate, and prepare one to face the day’s challenges.

The simplicity and power of mindful breathing can significantly boost overall health and well-being, Dr. Sinha explained. Such routines, while uniquely tailored to individual needs, can indeed inspire a disciplined yet flexible approach to our daily start, setting a positive pace for both mind and body.
