Chris Martin’s Hilarious ‘I Am From Telangana’ Joke at Concert Wins Approval from Vijay Deverakonda
Coldplay’s India tour concluded with a lighthearted twist that left fans buzzing with excitement. During the final concert in Ahmedabad, frontman Chris Martin humorously claimed, “Everyone knows that I am from Telangana,” as he expressed gratitude for 29 years with his bandmates. This unexpected declaration quickly captured the attention of Indian fans, including actor Vijay Deverakonda.
Martin went on to whimsically label Coldplay as an “Indian band,” playfully assigning each member to a different Indian state: bassist Guy Berryman hailed from Tamil Nadu, and drummer Will Champion was “100 per cent Gujarati” from Ahmedabad. Fans embraced the humorous moment, leading to a flurry of activity on social media.
Vijay Deverakonda joined in on the fun by sharing the clip on his Instagram stories, adding his own suggestion: “Chris Martin welcome! Someone needs to make a Podusthunna Poddumeeda x Coldplay mashup.” For those not in the know, “Podusthunna Poddumeeda” is a significant song from the 2011 film “Jai Bolo Telangana,” closely tied to the Telangana movement and composed by Chakri with lyrics and vocals by Gummadi Vittal Rao.
In terms of his professional endeavors, Vijay Deverakonda was recently seen in “The Family Star” and made a cameo appearance in “Kalki 2898 AD.”
