Revolutionary Eco-Friendly Tourism: Mizo Convention Endorses Visionary Sushanta Chowdhury for Transforming Jampui Hill
Agartala, 27th January 2025: The Mizo Convention has submitted a detailed proposal to Shri Sushanta Chowdhury, Tripura’s Minister of Tourism, advocating for sustainable tourism initiatives in Jampui Hill. This proposal, dated January 27, 2025, emphasizes eco-friendly and community-focused tourism to benefit locals while preserving the natural environment.
One of the standout suggestions is the construction of a sky-walk near Eden Lodge in Vanghmun village, designed to offer visitors panoramic views of Jampui Hill. Accompanied by a proposed tracking route, this aims to boost adventure tourism in the region. Furthermore, the proposal includes the creation of an eco-park in collaboration with the state Forest Department, potentially located on the northern side of Jampui Hill, near Vaisam and Hmawngchuan villages. This eco-park would enhance conservation efforts for local flora and fauna and serve as a retreat for nature enthusiasts.
In addition, the Mizo Convention recommends upgrading the Tlaksih paragliding site by improving its access road and facilities, ensuring it’s more attractive and accessible to adventure tourists. They also suggest promoting Thaidawr Tlâng (Betlingchhip) as a nature reserve and wildlife park, advocating for minimal human interference to maintain the area’s natural habitat.
The letter underscores the importance of guiding tourism development with principles of community benefit, environmental protection, and cultural sustainability. The Mizo Convention emphasizes that tourism initiatives should economically support the local community, safeguard ecology, and boost local arts and culture.
Signed by President J.D. Mawia and General Secretary Dr. Zairemthiana Pachuau, the proposal reflects the organization’s dedication to visionary tourism development. The Mizo Convention conveys gratitude to the Minister and anticipates collaboration to bring this concept to fruition, aiming to transform Jampui Hill into a model of sustainable tourism.
