Epic Ramayana Anime Premieres at Mahakumbh: Exclusive, Heartfelt Screening Thrills 200 School Kids!
The iconic Indo-Japanese animated film, “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama,” made a notable debut at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Tuesday, marking a historic pre-release event. Over 200 schoolchildren attended this special screening, being introduced to this unique anime adaptation of Valmiki’s Ramayana for the first time. The event coincided with the first anniversary of the Ram Mandir’s ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony in Ayodhya and featured an introduction by Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Social Welfare and SC/ST Welfare, Asim Arun.
The Mahakumbh Mela, held every 144 years at the sacred convergence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, provided an auspicious setting for this cinematic retelling of Lord Rama’s epic journey. Directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, the film seamlessly fuses the richness of Indian storytelling with Japanese artistry, earning international acclaim. It has generated excitement among film enthusiasts and even attracted the attention of India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, who recently praised the animation on her social media.
Initially screened at the International Film Festival of India in 1993, the film will make its big-screen debut across India on January 24, 2025, in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English. The film will be distributed in Ultra HD 4K by Geek Pictures India, AA Films, and Excel Entertainment, promising a visually captivating experience for audiences nationwide.
