Experience Patriotism and Tradition: Tamulpur Launches Inspiring Khadi National Flag Sale Before Republic Day
Ahead of the 76th Republic Day, Tamulpur inaugurated a handmade Khadi National Flag sale counter near Tamulpur Higher Secondary School. This initiative, organized by the District Administration with Tamulpur Anchalik Gramdan Sangha, Kumarikata, aims to promote local artisans’ craftsmanship and make Khadi flags accessible to rural communities.
The event was graced by District Commissioner Shri Pankaj Chakravarty, Superintendent of Police Shri Diganta Kumar Choudhury, and other dignitaries, including members of the Tamulpur Municipal Board and representatives from Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya. Shri Chakravarty stressed the project’s dual purpose: to popularize locally crafted Khadi flags and to foster patriotism, especially among the youth.
To further this goal, a mobile sale van was launched by the Superintendent of Police and the Municipal Board Chairman. This van will tour Tamulpur and Goreswar, ensuring that even those in remote areas can participate in the Republic Day celebrations.
Established in 1971 and supported by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the Tamulpur Anchalik Gramdan Sangha has been a pillar for Khadi and village industries. Its Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya in Kumarikata offers training in spinning, weaving, and design, benefiting young people across Northeast India.
This initiative seeks to blend patriotic pride with the promotion of rural craftsmanship, inspiring communities while honoring the spirit of Republic Day. By making Khadi flags more accessible, it aims to ignite a sense of national pride and appreciation for indigenous skills, contributing to both cultural preservation and economic empowerment in rural areas.
