RPF Heroically Seizes Ganja Worth Rs 3.1 Lakh on Guwahati-Murkongselek Train, Ensuring Passenger Safety
In a significant drug bust, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 30 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs 3.1 lakh from the 15613 Guwahati-Murkongselek Ujanimua Lachit Express in Rangapara. Acting on a tip-off, an RPF team led by Sohanlal Pradhan, a police officer of the Rangia division of BG-3, conducted a raid on two coaches of the passenger train on Tuesday.
Despite successfully securing the large cache of the illegal substance, the operation did not result in any arrests, as none of the individuals responsible for the transportation of the ganja were apprehended. The drugs were skillfully concealed within the train coaches, but the RPF’s timely intervention, based on the intelligence received, ensured their seizure.
Following the confiscation, the RPF has launched a thorough investigation to trace the origins and distribution network of the seized ganja. Authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage and other evidence in an effort to identify those involved in the smuggling operation.
This drug seizure highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat illegal drug trafficking via railway networks. The RPF’s swift response and strategic operation underscore their commitment to maintaining security and preventing contraband from being distributed further. The investigation is expected to uncover crucial leads that may help dismantle the network involved in the illicit transport of drugs. As authorities pursue these leads, further developments are anticipated in the case, which remains a priority for the RPF and related agencies.
