Top Army Leaders Urgently Address Manipur’s Security Crisis with Governor and CM
In Imphal on January 14, several high-ranking Army officials, including the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, convened with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. The meetings aimed to address the security landscape in Manipur and across the northeastern region.
A representative from the Raj Bhavan disclosed that Lieutenant General Tiwari provided a comprehensive briefing to Governor Bhalla regarding the ongoing security conditions in Manipur and the broader northeastern area. Following his discussions with the Army officials, Chief Minister Biren Singh shared on social media that they explored strategies to enhance security measures, improve coordination, and ensure the safety and well-being of the populace.
The delegation also featured senior Army officers, such as Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of the 3-Corps (Spear Corps), Major General S.S. Kartikeya, GOC of the 57 Mountain Division, and Major General Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South).
Concurrently, Chief Minister Biren Singh attended the Armed Forces Veterans’ Day event at the Manipur Rifles headquarters. He praised the veterans for their crucial role in upholding national security with dedication and sacrifice. In a later online statement, the Chief Minister highlighted Manipur’s significant contribution to the Indian Army, noting that despite its small population, it has produced several high-ranking officers. He emphasized the pride in the state’s two Lieutenant Generals serving the northeastern region and celebrated their courageous deeds that inspire patriotism among citizens.
The meetings and celebrations marked a reaffirmation of the commitment to fortifying regional security and honoring the contributions of military personnel from Manipur.
