Crucial Talks: Manipur Governor and CRPF Officials Strategize to Strengthen State Security
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla engaged in critical discussions with senior officials from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to address the ongoing turmoil in the violence-stricken state, as per an official statement. The meeting included Raja Srivastava, Special DG of the CRPF North East Zone, and other top officers, who provided the governor with updates on the deployment and operations in the region.
In addition to the CRPF briefing, Governor Bhalla met separately with representatives from the All Manipur Bar Association. They discussed the multitude of challenges and concerns emerging from the prevailing conflict. The governor reassured the group of his commitment to providing comprehensive support.
The unrest, which began on May 3 of the previous year, has led to over 250 fatalities and left thousands homeless due to ethnic clashes between the Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and the neighboring hills-dwelling Kuki-Zo communities. The governor’s dialogues with the CRPF and legal representatives underscore the ongoing efforts to stabilize the region and address the severe humanitarian impact.
