Is Lamb of God’s Mark Morton Ready to Retire? His Candid and Surprising Response Reveals All!
During a chat on “The Bob Lefsetz Podcast,” Mark Morton, LAMB OF GOD’s guitarist, shared insights into his current financial standing, expressing confidence that he could retire if needed by making some lifestyle adjustments. Discussing the band’s creative process, Morton emphasized their collective decision-making approach to touring and recording. He highlighted the importance of balancing artistic and personal commitments, acknowledging how his priorities have shifted over time, especially given his roles as a husband and father.
Planning tours a year in advance, Morton noted that he often has a clear view of his schedule up to 18 months ahead due to their organized management and team efforts. Reflecting on his career’s early days, he remarked on how his desire for constant touring has evolved alongside his personal responsibilities.
When asked about maintaining relationships amidst a busy touring lifestyle, Morton stressed the significance of having an identity outside the band and being present in family life. He revealed that LAMB OF GOD isn’t always the center of his home conversations, allowing space for his personal life to thrive.
Morton celebrated six years of sobriety recently. In his memoir, “Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir,” released by Hachette Books in June 2024 and co-authored with Ben Opipari, Morton credits GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Slash for inspiring his sobriety journey. The memoir delves into Morton’s life in music, his battle with addiction, and his pursuit of clarity.
Additionally, Morton released his debut solo album, “Anesthetic,” in 2019 and his solo EP “Ether” in 2020, where he candidly addressed his sobriety in the song “All I Had to Lose.” LAMB OF GOD, initially known as BURN THE PRIEST, formed in 1994, with their latest album “Omens” launching in 2022. The band concluded their “Ashes Of Leviathan” tour with MASTODON last summer.
