Empowering Educators: Tripura DIG Calls on Teachers to Lead the Charge Against Drug Abuse
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Tripura Police, Krishnendu Chakravertty, emphasized the crucial role teachers play in combating drug abuse among students during a recent event. In an address at a one-day mega blood donation camp and two-day health camp at PM-SHRI Sekerkote Higher Secondary School in the Sepahijala District, Chakravertty, serving in the Crime and Intelligence branch, highlighted the importance of vigilance and proactive engagement in tackling this issue.
Chakravertty lauded blood donation as a significant, humanitarian act, encouraging individuals, particularly students, to contribute to such causes. He stated, “A healthy person can donate blood two to three times a year, and initiatives like these motivate students to see blood donation as a noble act.” He urged the youth to develop an interest in blood donation, emphasizing the uniqueness and impactful nature of these campaigns.
Addressing the escalating drug menace, Chakravertty urged teachers to actively observe their students, as they are well-positioned to notice behavioral changes that might indicate drug use. He asserted, “The drug issue demands immediate action, with teachers needing to be vigilant observers. They, along with parents, are usually the first to notice psychological shifts in children due to drug use.” He also mentioned a specialized team dedicated to raising awareness about drug abuse as part of the police’s efforts.
Chakravertty praised the school’s initiative in hosting such community-oriented events and called on more members of society to participate actively in similar initiatives. He concluded, “Together, we can cultivate a healthier and more conscious society,” stressing the collective responsibility in fostering an informed and healthy community.
