Urgent Appeal: Ajmal’s Heartfelt Plea to UN for Protecting Endangered Hindus in Bangladesh
Guwahati, Dec. 31: Badruddin Ajmal, the president of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a former Lok Sabha member, has reached out to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, urging intervention to safeguard the minority Hindu population in Bangladesh. In a letter to the UN office, Ajmal expressed concern over the increasing violence and attacks targeting Hindus and their religious sites in Bangladesh, allegedly perpetrated by certain groups.
He highlighted the failure of Bangladesh’s interim government to adequately protect the lives, properties, and religious places of the Hindu minority, which has resulted in tragic fatalities, destruction of homes, and property looting. Ajmal emphasized that the situation not only endangers the current safety of the Hindu community but also threatens the future of their children, who are being raised in an environment of fear and insecurity.
Arguing that these acts are severe human rights violations, Ajmal called for the international community to hold the Bangladesh government accountable. He urged the UN office to apply pressure on the Bangladeshi authorities to take immediate action for the protection of Hindu minorities and ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts receive exemplary punishment. Ajmal’s appeal underscores the urgency for global intervention to restore safety and uphold human rights in Bangladesh.
