Breaking News: Assam STF Triumphantly Captures Notorious Fundamentalist in Dhubri
Guwahati: In a recent crackdown under “Operation Praghat,” the Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended a notorious fundamentalist in the Dhubri district. The arrest took place on Friday morning in Bandhabpara village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bilasipara police station. The operation is linked to an investigation under STF police station case number 21/2024.
The individual arrested has been identified as Shahinur Islam, 36, a resident of Bandhabpara Part-II village. Authorities discovered incriminating materials at the site, including books, identification documents (such as a PAN card, Aadhaar card, and passport), and a mobile phone.
The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Assam Police emphasized STF’s unwavering resolve to maintain state safety and security by effectively curbing anti-national activities. This arrest forms part of a series of successful STF operations in the region.
In a separate operation in Kokrajhar district, the STF detained two operatives from the terror group Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT). The individuals, Abdul Zaher Sheikh and Sabbir Mirdha, were captured in Namapara, leading to the discovery of a substantial arms and ammunition cache at their hideout.
Additionally, a week earlier, the STF dismantled a terror module by arresting eight individuals, including a Bangladeshi national, across three states.
These operations underscore the STF’s dedication to eradicating extremist threats and safeguarding public welfare in the region.
