Heroic Delhi Cop Rescues Armyman and IAF Officer Wife from Overturned Car Tragedy | Heartwarming Delhi News
At around 2:30 a.m., Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Shashank Jaiswal was en route to visit his mother when he encountered an overturned vehicle near Subroto Park, Dhaula Kuan. Spotting the accident scene, he instructed his driver to stop. Upon inspection, he discovered an Army subedar and his wife, an Air Force officer, trapped inside the car, which had flipped onto its side, blocking both doors.
Jaiswal, alongside his team and several passersby, sprang into action to rescue the couple. The doors on the vehicle’s opposite side were jammed, preventing the couple from escaping. Jaiswal quickly alerted the Police Control Room (PCR) for assistance. Together with bystanders, they shattered the car’s windows to extract the couple, who were fortunately unharmed in the incident. “They were attempting to avoid a collision with a truck, which caused their car to swerve and overturn,” Jaiswal explained, noting the added danger of leaking fuel that could have led to a fire.
This incident isn’t Jaiswal’s first instance of rescuing accident victims. On September 2, he identified a gathering near Mahipalpur bypass in South Delhi and found an unconscious man, Anil Kumar, injured in a motorcycle accident. Demonstrating quick thinking, Jaiswal enlisted an autorickshaw driven by Deepak Pal to rush Kumar to the hospital, a move that ultimately saved his life. Jaiswal also credited traffic constables Jasbir and Shailesh for their pivotal role in the rescue.
These episodes highlight Jaiswal’s commitment to public safety and his readiness to act decisively in crisis situations, earning appreciation for his leadership and the effective teamwork demonstrated during emergency interventions.
