Exciting Revival: NF Railway Joyfully Restores Train Services in Silchar After Pit Line Operationalisation
The Northeast Frontier Railway announced that trains previously canceled in Silchar due to floods have been restored. After the pit line was operationalized, services resumed on July 6. Notably, Train No. 05659 (Silchar-Shribar) Passenger, Train No. 05567 (Silchar-Bhairabi) Passenger, and Train No. 15641 (Silchar-New Tinsukia) Express have recommenced operations as of that date.
Additionally, trains from the reverse routes, including Train No. 05660 (Shribar-Silchar) Passenger, Train No. 05568 (Bhairabi-Silchar) Passenger, and Train No. 15642 (New Tinsukia-Silchar) Express, are set to resume on July 7.
Heavy rainfall on July 1 resulted in the closure of National Highway 27 in Assam, disrupting the crucial link between Haflong and Silchar. The continuous downpour in the Dima Hasao district prompted the Jatinga River to overflow, inundating a vital section of the highway between Jatinga and Haflong.
Footage has surfaced showing the river’s overflow, stranding travelers and halting vehicular movement. Authorities are actively engaged in efforts to clear the road and restore access at the earliest opportunity.
This news comes as a relief to residents and travelers who depend on these routes for their daily commutes. The Northeast Frontier Railway’s prompt action in restoring the services demonstrates a significant step towards normalcy in the flood-affected region.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that necessary measures are in place to prevent further disruptions. As efforts are underway to clear and reopen the inundated highway, commuters are advised to stay updated on travel advisories for the latest information.
