Heartfelt Farewell: Pakistan’s Legendary Pacer Mohammad Amir Bids Emotional Goodbye to International Cricket
Pakistan’s celebrated fast bowler Mohammad Amir has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 32. Having debuted for Pakistan in June 2009, Amir participated in 36 Test matches, 61 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 62 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) throughout his career. In total, he claimed 271 international wickets and contributed 1,179 runs across all formats. Amir’s performance in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against India stands out as a career highlight; he took three crucial wickets, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan, recording impressive figures of 3-16. Amir’s decision to retire occurred shortly after fellow Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim announced his departure from the international sphere. Both played in the recent T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Amir said, “After careful consideration, I have decided to retire from international cricket. These decisions are never easy but are inevitable.” He expressed a desire for the new generation to raise Pakistan cricket to new heights and conveyed that representing his country had been a tremendous honor. He took the opportunity to thank the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), his family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support throughout his career.
