Exciting Assam Cabinet Reshuffle: Discover the Key Portfolios Assigned to Ministers
In a strategic effort to enhance governance and leadership in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has initiated a major reshuffle of ministerial portfolios. This realignment is crafted to foster innovation and efficiency across the state’s key sectors, promising to invigorate administration with targeted focus.
Key ministerial changes include Prasanta Phukan, who now heads the Power, Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, and Medical Education and Research departments. He will also oversee the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana, directing his efforts toward healthcare, skill development, and sustainable energy. Kaushik Rai is tasked with spearheading the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Mines and Minerals, and Barak Valley Development departments, playing a crucial role in ensuring food security and boosting mineral resource management.
Krishnendu Paul has been placed in charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, and Public Works (Roads), marking a focus on agricultural advancement and rural infrastructure. Meanwhile, Rupesh Gowala will manage the Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, and Home (Prisons, Home Guards, and Civil Defense) departments, prioritizing marginalized community welfare and robust law enforcement.
In terms of senior positions, Chief Minister Sarma will maintain leadership over the Home, Personnel, and Public Works departments, emphasizing development and governance. Ranjeet Kumar Dass takes on responsibility for the Panchayat and Rural Development, Judicial, and Tourism departments to advance rural progress. Atul Bora will steer Agriculture, Excise, and Border Protection, focusing on agricultural growth and border security.
Other significant reassignments feature Keshab Mahanta in Revenue and Disaster Management, Information Technology, and Science; Urkhao Gwra Brahma in Handloom, Textiles, and Bodoland welfare; alongside roles for Chandra Mohan Patowary, Ranoj Pegu, Ashok Singhal, and others in pivotal areas touching education, health, finance, and infrastructure.
