Urgent Search: Man’s Heart-Wrenching Abduction by Armed Miscreants in Manipur’s Leimakhong Sparks Outcry
Manipur Man Missing: Community Demands Action and Transparency
Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, a 56-year-old resident of Loitang Khunou in Manipur, has been missing since the morning of November 25. Singh was last observed en route to the Army colony in Leimakhong for work. The disappearance has sparked concerns among locals from the Sekmai constituency, who are now demanding comprehensive efforts for his safe return.
A joint search operation involving the State Police and Central Forces is currently active, with authorities intensifying their efforts to locate Singh. The Leimakhong area, situated 16-17 km from Imphal city, has been recognized as a sensitive zone with a history of similar disappearances.
In response to the situation, women from Kanto Village staged a protest, calling for Singh’s safe release. Tensions have escalated as unsettling footage shows unarmed women potentially facing army retaliation during the demonstration.
Community leaders, along with human rights organizations, have urgently called for an investigation into the case, urging media coverage to spotlight this pressing issue. The Democratic Media Coordination Committee (DMCC) and other entities in Manipur are encouraged to pursue further details to address and understand the alarming trend of disappearances in the region.
