Empower the Future: UGC Chairman Inspires Graduates to Propel India to Developed Nation Status
At the 32nd convocation of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), held on November 8, 2024, two outstanding students were honored with the prestigious Dr. TMA Pai Gold Medal for their exceptional academic achievements. Melin Mathew, a B.Sc Nursing graduate from Manipal College of Nursing, and Manaswi P.S., a Master of Engineering graduate from Manipal School of Information Sciences, received the awards from UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar.
In his keynote address, Prof. Kumar urged the graduates to shed any feeling of servitude and contribute to India’s development by staying curious and lifelong learners. He emphasized the importance of maintaining physical and mental fitness, advocating minimal processed food consumption. Highlighting challenges like population growth, clean water access, and environmental destruction, he stressed the vital role graduates play in devising solutions for a sustainable and secure future. The convocation, spanning three days, celebrates the graduation of 5,767 MAHE students. Notable attendees included Vasanti R Pai, Trustee of MAHE Trust, Pro Chancellor H.S. Ballal, and Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. M.D. Venkatesh.
