Shocking Arrest: Two Caught Red-Handed Selling Illegal Animal Tusks in Mushalpur
In a significant anti-poaching operation in Assam’s Mushalpur, police successfully apprehended two individuals attempting to sell animal tusks. Acting on intelligence, the authorities set up a sting operation and caught Filimon Kujur (18) and Bimal Ishwan (29) red-handed as they tried to finalize the illegal transaction. The arrested men, who are from Bhutankhuti and Madhupur villages near the India-Bhutan border, possessed four tusks reportedly held in their possession for over two years with an intent to sell them for Rs 1 lakh.
The tusks have been seized, and the police are now working with the forest department to identify the animal species to which they belonged. This operation marks an essential step in combating wildlife trafficking in the region. Both suspects have been handed over to the forest department for further investigation. This arrest underscores the continued efforts by Assam police to thwart wildlife crimes in the state.
