The BBC Club held a voluntary blood donation camp in the old motor stand area of Agartala on Tuesday, with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar inaugurating the event. Highlighting the altruistic significance of donating blood, Mayor Majumdar described it as “the greatest human religion.” He emphasized the urgent need for blood donations to assist comatose patients, appealing to the community to actively engage in this vital cause. “Humans can donate human blood, so everyone should come forward to donate,” he stated, stressing the communal responsibility involved.
The Mayor also pointed out a recent challenge faced by local blood bank schools, which had led the state’s Chief Minister to issue a call for donations. “Only then did people come forward to donate blood,” Majumdar remarked, urging the public to continue participating in such life-saving initiatives. During his visit to the camp, Mayor Majumdar interacted with donors, encouraging them and reiterating the necessity of maintaining a consistent blood supply in local banks through regular donations.
