Breaking: Exciting Reveal of Draft Electoral Rolls in Manipur Ahead of Pivotal 2025 Elections
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur has taken a crucial step forward in preparation for the forthcoming Assembly elections by announcing the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls for the state’s 60 Assembly Constituencies. This initiative, under the directive of the Election Commission of India (ECI), aims to streamline the election process and boost voter engagement in Manipur.
The Draft Electoral Rolls are accessible for public inspection at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and online at ceomanipur.nic.in. Recognized national and state political parties will receive a complimentary printed copy, while additional copies and DVD-ROMs with electoral data are available for purchase.
The draft rolls reveal a slight improvement in the gender ratio, now at 1069 compared to the previous 1068 as of January 22, 2024. However, there is a decrease in the Elector Population Ratio, down to 54.84% from 55.54% earlier. The total number of electors has grown to 2,034,660, an increase of 8,037 from the 2024 final rolls, maintaining the number of polling stations at 2,955.
The Special Summary Revision (SSR) process kicks off today, allowing citizens to enroll, update, or remove their names from the rolls. Claims and objections can be filed from October 29 to November 28, with special campaign days on November 9 and 10. The final electoral roll is set for release on January 6, 2025.
In an effort to engage the youth, the CEO plans extensive awareness campaigns in educational institutions. These include activating Electoral Literacy Clubs and organizing special camps for voter registration. A Special Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, themed “Eikhoi Voter Challasi,” was also launched. Mobile vans equipped with electoral information will travel across Manipur to foster inclusivity in the electoral process.
CEO Pradeep Kumar Jha encourages all eligible citizens to participate actively, emphasizing, “Your voice matters. Come forward and ensure your name is included in the electoral rolls.”
