Kunhalikutty Slams CPI(M) for Recklessly Using Communal Tactics to Divide Communities
IUML national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala of fostering communal divisions to protect criminal factions. Speaking at a protest organized by the IUML district committee at Menka Junction in Kochi, Kunhalikutty criticized the CPI(M) for adopting what he described as the BJP’s tactic of exploiting issues for electoral gain, labeling it a dangerous trend. He pointed out the inconsistent portrayal of the Jamaat-e-Islami by the CPI(M), seen as favorable when aligned and otherwise maligned. Kunhalikutty emphasized that only the Congress can combat the BJP democratically, asserting that past opposition to Congress by CPI(M) and those purporting to represent Muslims has been proven misguided. He also alleged that CPI(M) disrupted affairs in Palakkad to benefit the BJP in the Assembly byelection, similar to the alleged mishandling of the Thrissur Pooram festival. The protest was presided over by IUML district acting president Ibrahim Kavala.
