Triumphant Victory: Nagaland’s Fifth Note Secures Exciting Top Spot in Ticket to Hornbill Battle Finale
Fifth Note, an emerging musical group from Nagaland, has clinched victory in the 2024 Ticket to Hornbill competition, renowned as India’s largest band battle, securing a prize of Rs 2 million. According to officials, the competition saw fierce contest from 130 bands nationwide, culminating at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, near Kohima.
Abu Metha, Adviser to the Nagaland Chief Minister, lauded the band, calling it “another BIG BIG one” for its “incredible tightness” and outstanding performance. At the grand finale, the prize was collaboratively awarded by Nagaland’s Higher Education & Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along and Metha.
The competition also recognized The Prophets from Mizoram as the first runner-up, who secured a Rs 1 million reward, while Nagaland’s Project Anonymous claimed the second runner-up title, taking home Rs 500,000.
Other accolades were distributed among various bands, with KAPOW from Delhi receiving the Sennheiser Choice Award, Project Anonymous earning the Best Vocalist title, and Papersky securing both the Best Drummer and Best Bassist awards. The Best Guitarist award was bestowed upon The Prophets, while Yugen was applauded with the Best Keyboardist title.
This event is a precursor to the upcoming 25th Hornbill Music Festival in Nagaland, organized by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), further amplifying the significance of the competition and setting the stage for a grand celebration of musical talent in the region.
