Shocking Revelation: CBI Unveils 6 Explosive FIRs in Assam’s Stock Market Investment Scam
Dibrugarh, Assam: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed six First Information Reports (FIRs) concerning a significant stock market investment scam in Assam. These cases, lodged in a Special CBI Court, reportedly involve high-profile individuals, including an actress-influencer. The affected FIRs are numbered from RC 221 2024 E 0013 to RC 221 2024 E 0018, and they reference violations of the Banning of Unregulated Deposits Schemes Act, 2019, alongside certain sections of the BNS and IPC.
This development is part of a broader investigation prompted by the Assam Police, which had previously referred 36 interconnected cases to the CBI for further probe. Notably, the CBI is preparing to interrogate the accused, imprisoned at the Dibrugarh Central Jail, starting this Saturday.
The scam, valued at approximately Rs 2,200 crore, was uncovered in September after the Dibrugarh Police apprehended the alleged mastermind, 22-year-old Bishal Phukan. The investigation commenced with a suo-motu case registration, subsequently followed by four FIRs filed by defrauded investors against Phukan.
This intense scrutiny marks a significant phase in the broader crackdown on financial malpractices in the region, attracting substantial public and media attention given its scale and high-profile nature.
