Mumbai Rains Disrupt Navratri Celebrations
Mumbai experienced an unexpected deluge on Thursday night as heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, impacted various parts of the city. The intense weather coincided with the ongoing Navratri festivities, dampening the spirit of revellers who had planned ‘garba’ dances—a key ritual of the nine-day celebration. Many were caught off guard, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had only issued a ‘yellow’ alert, indicating expectations of light to moderate rainfall in the area.
Looking ahead to Friday, the IMD has forecasted a "partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms" in the city. Despite the unforeseeable disruption, locals remain hopeful for clearer skies and a resumption of festivities.
