Discover the Thriving Potential: Arunachal’s New District Soars in Tourism & Horticulture
The newly established Keyi Panyor district in Arunachal Pradesh is spearheading a sustainable development drive under the leadership of its first Deputy Commissioner, IAS officer Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta. The district is prioritizing growth sectors like tourism, sports, and horticulture. Despite facing challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and land encroachment, proactive measures are underway to resolve these issues.
DC Mehta is addressing land encroachment and the issue of cattle roaming freely on highways through active eviction campaigns. In a remarkable display of community support, local residents have voluntarily donated land for the district headquarters, simplifying the setup of new offices and living areas.
Mehta acknowledged the district’s infrastructure deficits while emphasizing ongoing recruitment and construction efforts, with the district office expected to be operational by December. She also highlighted the collaborative efforts with Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung and departmental heads to explore developmental opportunities throughout the district.
Strategically positioned near Ziro and Itanagar, Keyi Panyor has vast potential in tourism, sports, and horticulture, with projects in these areas currently in the planning stages. Initiatives are also encouraging youth entrepreneurship, particularly focusing on horticultural products such as oranges, guava, kiwi, and cardamom.
The district aims to be fully functional by December. With the DC office nearing completion and staffing underway, Keyi Panyor is on track to realize its development goals. The active involvement of MLA Toko Tatung and local communities plays a crucial role in propelling Keyi Panyor towards becoming one of the most advanced districts in Arunachal Pradesh. The ambitious initiatives mark a significant step towards sustainable development in this newly formed administrative region, promising a brighter future for its residents.
