Revolutionary Leap: OnePlus 13 Unleashes MagSafe-like Wireless Charging for Android Enthusiasts
Apple’s MagSafe charging innovation, introduced with the iPhone 12 in 2020, might soon have an Android rival. Reports suggest the upcoming OnePlus 13, expected to launch later this month, will incorporate the Qi2 wireless charging standard, enabling magnetic charging capabilities. OnePlus China president, Li Jie Louis, hinted at this feature through an image on Weibo, showing magnetic accessories planned for the OnePlus 13. However, unlike Apple’s integrated system, OnePlus may require wood grain cases to utilize this functionality.
Intriguingly, OnePlus’s sister company, OPPO, previously confirmed that its Find X8 series would receive magnetic accessories, leading to speculation about similar advancements for OnePlus.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 13 reportedly boasts a 6.82-inch 2K display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, up to 24GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It is expected to carry three 50MP cameras and a substantial 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging. The device is anticipated to launch in China imminently, with a global release speculated to mirror the timeline of the OnePlus 12’s debut in January 2024.
Magnetic charging has begun to feature in Android devices more recently. Last year, Infinix’s Note 40 Pro series introduced similar technology called “MagCharge,” which relied on special magnetic cases. This year, Nokia’s parent company unveiled the HMD Skyline with built-in Qi2 wireless charging, negating the need for additional accessories. These developments indicate a broader trend towards magnetic charging in the Android ecosystem, possibly set to transform how these devices are powered.
