Congress Leader Tilak Slams NDPP-BJP Govt as ‘Non-Starter’: A Powerful Critique on Governance | MorungExpress
Congress Aims to Rejuvenate Support in Nagaland with Statewide Tour
KOHIMA, OCTOBER 7 (MExN): Christopher Tilak, the AICC Secretary in charge of Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura, has criticized the ruling NDPP-BJP coalition in Nagaland for overlooking the state’s pressing needs. Speaking at an Extended Executive Meeting of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) at the Congress Bhavan in Kohima, Tilak dismissed the coalition’s “double-engine sarkar” as ineffective, stating it has failed to address core issues affecting the people.
Tilak emphasized the growing disillusionment among Northeastern citizens due to the BJP’s unfulfilled promises, specifically pointing to the lack of employment opportunities for young Nagas. He argued that the coalition prioritizes electoral gains and majoritarian politics over vital governance matters that impact Nagaland’s livelihoods. Moreover, Tilak criticized the NDPP-BJP government’s inaction regarding the Naga Political Solution, a critical issue crucial for the region’s stability and development.
Highlighting the Congress Party’s contrasting approach, Tilak underscored its commitment to inclusivity and grassroots engagement, referring to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as evidence of the party’s dedication to marginalized communities. He stressed the Congress’s focus on people-centric policies that aim to uplift underrepresented groups.
To bolster the party’s connection with Nagaland’s populace, Tilak announced an upcoming statewide tour, which will commence in Eastern Nagaland. This initiative strives to empower leaders from diverse backgrounds, with a special emphasis on promoting women’s leadership. Tilak expressed optimism that this outreach effort would enhance the Congress’s presence and enable it to more effectively tackle key challenges in Nagaland, thereby reaffirming its commitment to genuine governance and economic progress for the state.
