Three of the five major Asian stock indices ended the trading day on a high note. China’s Shanghai Composite Index led the way with an impressive gain of nearly 7.5%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index surged by 2.3%, and Singapore’s Straits Times Index saw a modest increase of 0.3%. Conversely, Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index experienced a significant drop of over 5%, and South Korea’s Kospi Index declined by more than 2%.
In Europe, the markets presented a gloomy picture. France’s CAC 40 was down by more than 1.5%, London’s FTSE 100 fell by 0.7%, and Germany’s DAX decreased by 0.6%, according to the latest available data.
