Arunachal Minister Orders Immediate Restoration After Deomali Floods
Arunachal Pradesh Forest and Environment Minister Wangki Lowang on June 19, 2026, visited flood-affected areas in the Deomali subdivision of Tirap district to assess damage caused by recent flash floods. Accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Deomali, the minister inspected roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure hit by the unprecedented flooding.
Officials told Lowang that the flash floods have inflicted extensive damage on road networks and bridges, disrupting connectivity across several parts of the subdivision and affecting residents’ daily lives. The destruction has left multiple villages with limited access to markets, schools and health services.
During the inspection, Lowang reviewed the on-ground damage and discussed immediate challenges with local officials. He directed the concerned departments to begin urgent restoration and repair work to reopen damaged roads and restore essential public services as quickly as possible.
The minister also emphasized the need for coordinated action among state, district and local agencies to ensure efficient relief and recovery operations. Officials said a formal assessment of damages is under way and that necessary steps are being taken to restore connectivity in affected areas.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and carry out relief and restoration activities. The state government has assured residents that all necessary measures will be taken to restore normalcy and provide assistance to those affected at the earliest.
