আমেৰিকাত ৩ বাৰ্তীয় হত্যা—নীৰৱ মোদী চৰকাৰত জি.ডি. বক্সীৰ তীব্ৰ ক্ষোভ
Former Major General G D Bakshi has condemned both the central government and the United States after three Indian sailors were killed in separate attacks on three vessels in the Gulf of Oman over a four‑day period. Bakshi said the string of strikes that cost Indian lives demanded a far firmer response from New Delhi, but he accused the government of remaining silent while three Indian families now grieve.
Bakshi questioned the United States’ role in the incidents and accused Washington of double standards in its dealings with India. He said the US has threatened punitive trade measures — citing a claimed 50 percent tariff threat on India and even warnings of tariff hikes up to 500 percent for purchases of cheaper Russian oil — while simultaneously presenting itself as a friend of India.
The retired officer also raised concerns about defense procurement and supply reliability. He said India had paid for 100 engines for light combat aircraft four years ago but received only a handful. “Initially just two engines were delivered,” he noted, “and only after the issue was raised at the prime‑ministerial level were a further five supplied,” a shortfall he warned has affected the Indian Air Force’s operational capability.
Bakshi further challenged the reported military actions against one of the vessels, alleging that American forces targeted a ship’s engine with a missile without issuing prior warning. He outlined what he described as standard procedure in such cases — warnings, recorded communications and, if necessary, seizure of the vessel — and argued that a sudden, unannounced strike would be a grave matter that requires accountability from the United States.
Stressing that the deaths of the three sailors cannot be brushed aside, Bakshi called on the Indian government to adopt a tougher stance, demand appropriate compensation for the bereaved families and make clear that every Indian life is sacred. He warned that if the US claims friendship while being implicated in incidents that cause Indian deaths, it raises serious questions about the future of bilateral ties.
