Government sources said the chief minister opted to retain principal departments to strengthen and streamline the state’s administrative machinery. By keeping police administration and the housing department within his remit, the chief minister is signaling a focus on tightening law and order and accelerating delivery on public housing commitments. Several other sensitive and high-priority departments will also remain under the direct oversight of the chief minister’s office.
