GSU Demands SGH Release MGNREGA Funds for Children Now
Williamnagar: Francis S. Marak, vice president of the Garo Student Union’s Nongalbibra Regional Unit (Southern Zone), lodged an FIR at the Jadi Police Outpost after filing a complaint with the Nongalbibra police, alleging he was assaulted and threatened on April 23. The complaint names Rongsa Awe and Raindon M. Sangma as accused and seeks action under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred at about 9:40 a.m. on April 23 while Marak was travelling with a person identified as Dangsa Awe. The complaint alleges the two were attacked, that stones were thrown and physical blows were inflicted, and that the assault resulted in injuries and damage to property.
Marak told police the attackers used stones and other means to assault him and that they issued threats against him. The FIR further alleges coordinated intimidation and threatening behaviour by the accused and others in the Nongalbibra and Jadi areas, which Marak said appeared linked to his role in the student union.
Asserting that the attack was deliberate, Marak said he believes the incident was connected to his position in the Garo Student Union and that the accused conspired with others to carry out the assault and intimidations. He has urged police to investigate and take appropriate legal action.
The FIR has been registered at the Jadi Police Outpost and brought to the attention of the Nongalbibra unit. The complaint requests prompt police investigation and prosecution under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita; no statement from the accused or police response was included in the complaint.
