Pralhad Joshi to NDTV: India’s LOP Crisis — Rahul Gandhi Responds
New Delhi, March 25, 2026 — Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of “trying to create panic” over LPG supplies and said Gandhi is unaware of the situation, speaking at NDTV’s India Sustainability Mission 2.0. “India does not have LPG problem, India has LoP problem,” Joshi said, a jibe aimed at Gandhi in his capacity as Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha.
Questioning Gandhi’s absence from the all-party meeting convened the same day, Joshi said: “Earlier, they were saying call an all‑party meeting. When the meeting is called, he doesn’t attend it.” Joshi, who holds the New and Renewable Energy portfolio, defended the government’s handling of fuel supplies and energy infrastructure.
“If you look at our neighbours, they are having major issues. In India not even a single petrol pump is dry. There is no shortage of petrol, diesel and PNG. There are some issues related to LPG, that’s why some steps are taken,” he said, arguing the country has increased domestic production and expanded pipeline connectivity. “And wherever there is natural gas, means there is a connection with piped natural gas… 25,000 km of pipeline has been laid, there is gas in it,” Joshi added.
Joshi accused Gandhi of “scaring people, creating fear psychosis” since “Day One of the war,” and suggested that opposing the Modi government amounted to opposing India. His remarks came amid heightened political debate over energy security and foreign policy.
On March 24, 2026, Gandhi had launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the situation in the Middle East and India’s handling of it, amid reports that Pakistan was facilitating talks between Iran and the United States. Gandhi told reporters he could not attend the all‑party meeting because it clashed with a programme in Kerala and said, “All‑party meeting should take place, but a structural blunder has been made… And this cannot be fixed, especially since the Prime Minister cannot. He will do whatever America says and will not work in the interest of the farmers and the country. He will do whatever America and Israel say.”
