Mother Shocked as Indian Railways Rescues Sick Baby on Moving Train
A mother has praised Indian Railways after staff arranged a doctor within minutes for her sick infant during a moving train, turning a moment of panic into prompt medical care. The incident occurred on March 13 on a service travelling from Bengaluru to Gujarat; the family say the child began vomiting repeatedly after being given drumstick soup and the parent, a dentist, recorded the episode in an Instagram video. Concerned and unsure how to get medicine on board, she approached the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) for help. “I fed my baby drumstick soup… post that, she started vomiting a lot,” the video text reads, and she added, “I panicked and asked the TTE about how can I order medicines on train… not expecting much.”
Railway staff acted quickly; by the time the train reached Hindupur station a doctor had been arranged to examine the baby and provide necessary medication. The mother said the team also issued a proper bill and that she was “truly shocked and so grateful for how quickly they acted.” The swift response, she wrote, turned “from panic to relief in a moving train.”
Indian Railways officials routinely coordinate with nearby stations and local doctors to handle medical emergencies when trains stop, and the episode highlights that system in action. Dr Bhavna, addressing parents in the clip, urged calm: “Parents – don’t panic during emergencies while travelling. Help can reach you, just inform the staff.”
The video has gone viral on social media, attracting more than 2.5 million views and over 93,300 likes, with users praising the railways’ quick action. Commenters called the response deserving of “real respect” and urged travellers to seek staff assistance if a medical need arises while en route.
