Agarwal, who was in Israel as a tourist, said he first learned of the attacks when sirens began blaring in his hotel on February 28, and described the subsequent routine of rushing to bomb shelters whenever alarms sounded.
“I am stuck alone here in Israel during the war, and it’s weird to say this, but what a crazy experience. Hopefully, everything will be fine soon,” Agarwal captioned the clip titled “Indian stuck alone in Israel during war.” He told viewers that on the morning of February 28 his phone and hotel alarms woke him; from then on, sheltering became the immediate response to every siren.
While waiting in shelters, Agarwal said he spoke with local residents who expressed confidence in the Israeli military’s ability to protect them, a reassurement that helped prevent panic. “But then, when I started talking to the people here, joking and laughing with them, I became calm too. The people here are very sweet. For the past four days, I haven’t felt scared at all, and the positive energy of the people here has made me so positive that instead of Holi, I feel like I’m celebrating Diwali here,” he said — a period that, given his February 28 account, runs through March 4.
