Shocking Discovery: Massive Arms and Ammunition Seizure Unveiled in Kangpokpi, Manipur
In a concerted effort to maintain security in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, police announced the seizure of significant arms and ammunition during an area domination exercise in Aigejang, part of the region’s hill district. Law enforcement revealed the recovery of a .303 rifle, a 9mm CMG with magazine, a 9mm pistol, an SBBL, two 51mm mortars, two hand grenades, five live rounds, and two smoke grenades.
The security forces have intensified search operations, focusing on safeguarding the vulnerable hill and valley districts. These operations form part of a broader initiative to curb the proliferation of illegal arms in the area. Notably, similar actions have resulted in the recovery of substantial caches of arms and ammunition in both hill and valley districts of Manipur.
To further reinforce security, the movement of vital goods, with 194 and 205 vehicles traversing the NH-37 and NH-2 respectively, is strictly monitored. Security convoys accompany vehicles along sensitive portions of these highways to ensure their safe passage.
In an effort to tighten control and enhance vigilance, a total of 109 Nakas or checkpoints have been established across various districts in both the hill and valley areas of Manipur. This strategic deployment aims to deter and detect any further illegal activities. However, authorities noted that no detentions related to violations were recorded, underscoring the focus on preventive measures.
These initiatives highlight the ongoing commitment of security forces to ensuring peace and stability in the region, supporting an environment where essential services and goods can safely reach their destinations without disruption. Through these comprehensive security measures, authorities aim to dismantle illegal activities and uphold public safety in Manipur’s diverse districts.
