12 Bangladeshi Nationals Apprehended in Assam While Attempting Return Home
Guwahati: In a significant development, twelve individuals identified as Bangladeshi nationals were detained in South Salmara, Assam on Tuesday night. The apprehensions took place in the Hatsingimari area as they were trying to return to Bangladesh after working in various parts of India.
According to reports, the group had illegally entered India through the Dawki region of Meghalaya without any valid documentation. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in the Fulerchar area, leading to the arrests. The detainees, aged between 18 and 38, hailed from different districts in Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Gaibandha, Naogaon, and Mymensingh.
Further investigations revealed that nine of the apprehended individuals were in possession of forged Aadhaar cards. Before attempting to return to Bangladesh, they had been employed as laborers in Tamil Nadu.
Following proper procedures, the Border Security Force and South Salmara-Mankachar district police deported the individuals to Bangladesh via the international border.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of illegal migration and document forgery in the region, emphasizing the importance of stringent border security measures.
