Breaking News: NASA’s Highly-Anticipated Crew-9 Mission Launch Delayed to Saturday
NASA has delayed the launch of its Crew-9 mission with SpaceX to September 28 due to the looming threat of Tropical Storm Helene. Initially slated for August 18, the mission was already rescheduled to allow more time for evaluating issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, currently docked at the International Space Station (ISS). The Crew-9 mission, part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, will feature a trio of NASA astronauts and one Russian cosmonaut. Despite Helene’s trajectory through the Gulf of Mexico towards northwest Florida, the storm’s expansive size is expected to bring severe weather conditions, including high winds and heavy rain, to the Cape Canaveral launch site.
NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov are among the crew members set to embark on the Dragon spacecraft to the ISS. The Crew-9 mission represents the ninth crew rotation under NASA’s collaboration with SpaceX. This adjustment underscores the space agency’s commitment to safety and logistical precision in space exploration endeavors.
