Gruesome Discovery: Woman’s Body Dismembered and Stored in Bengaluru House Fridge Shocks Community
In a gruesome incident that has shocked Bengaluru, the dismembered body of a 29-year-old woman was discovered inside a refrigerator at her home in Vyalikaval on Saturday afternoon. The victim, Mahalakshmi, originally from Nepal, had been living in a single-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a building on 6th Cross, Pipe Line Road, near Veeranna Bhavan.
Mahalakshmi, who had separated from her husband, Hemanth Das, earlier this year, had a four-year-old daughter who was living with Das and his parents. Das, employed at a mobile accessory shop in Nelamangala, would bring their daughter to visit Mahalakshmi bi-weekly. Concern arose when Mahalakshmi stopped responding to calls since September 2.
On Saturday, Mahalakshmi’s sister, residing in the same building, and their mother used a spare key to enter her apartment after getting no response. They were met with a horrific scene: the floor was sticky with blood, and a foul odor permeated the house. Blood and fluids were seeping out of a single-door, 165-litre refrigerator. Inside, they found Mahalakshmi’s body parts, with her legs placed on top and other body parts on the shelves. Her head was at the bottom of the fridge.
Police were immediately informed and had to don double masks due to the overwhelming stench. The crime scene was so distressing that one sub-inspector was seen vomiting. Forensic Science Laboratory teams and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) were called in to collect evidence scientifically.
As news of the murder spread, a crowd gathered at the scene, making it challenging for police to manage. The macabre discovery has left the community in shock and horror as investigations continue.
