Urgent Summit: MHA-Appointed Team Collaborates with Bangladesh Security Personnel to Fortify Border Security
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) convened a high-level meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials to scrutinize and supervise the situation along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The meeting was chaired by Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Eastern Command, and saw participation from members of the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI).
Discussions focused on enhancing communication channels with BGB and assessing the safety of minority communities in Bangladesh. Since August 12, 2024, the Border Guarding Forces have held approximately 722 border meetings and conducted 1367 simultaneous coordinated patrols (SCP) in vulnerable areas under Eastern Command’s jurisdiction.
During these meetings, BGB was urged to curb infiltration into India. In response, BGB officials committed to ensuring the safety of Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh.
To bolster border management, BSF has engaged in continuous information sharing and operational coordination with BGB. Additionally, BSF organized 614 village coordination meetings within the last 15 days along the international border. These gatherings aimed to inform Indian villagers about the ongoing situation in Bangladesh and solicit their cooperation, receiving a positive response from the local communities.
